suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
christian FLATSCHER: actually, the ‘urlaub’ series wasn’t really an intended project, it is more a personal collection of my favorite pictures, which i took on vacation in california and nevada last august/ september. there’s no connective motive or central theme. it is more an impartial and intuitional work.
sP: what or who influenced this project?
cF: the impressive landscape of california & nevada, trivial things & structures, architecture, lines, urban environments, curious situations.
sP: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
cF: listening: final fantasy, sunset rubdown, dirty projectors, volcano choir, wild beasts, grizzly bear. reading: too many design-, architecture- and photography-blogs and websites to mention here.
sP: whose work is currently on your radar?
cF: there’s an incredible & huge potential on flickr and therefore many photographers whose work i really admire. but there’re of course all-time favorites like shulman and bernd & hilla becher, and bas princen, who is definitely a big influence at the moment
