as a musician trapped in an artist’s body, david ellis creates works and installations inspired by sound. his motion paintings are often improvised live and on site captured through digital time lapse. as an event, ellis’ paintings pulse as they wrap around themselves and their canvases whether its an abandoned building or the side of a truck. through this process, elegant lines emerge and expand and contract in the creation of patterns and aggregations.
