suckerPUNCH: describe your project in one sentence.
projet DILIGENCE: during an artist residence in an old swimming pool in brussels, diligence built a wide temporary structure, based on animal architecture and emergence principle, simply out of used cardboard boxes (from the neighboring supermarket) fold in hexagons and eyeleted all together before being hung and surrounded by low-tech light and noise media systems.
sP: what or who influenced this project?
pD: according to the principle of emergence we repeated very simple gestures generating a more complex shape contaminating the all architectural space. if we use to employ computer generated forms we also like to work on projects fully based on bricolage, quick improvisation and hand work.
among several influences we could mention the insects’ world, jean-henri fabre, ant farm, r&sie, archigram…
