ASAE 09: architecture is communicated through a wider range of media than ever before. blogs and internet videos are reaching a larger public in an instant, challenging the traditional professional journals. architecture films on dvd and glossy publications are cheap and widely available, competing with architecture articles in newspapers or feature programmes on tv. the new media can instantaneously direct us to a specific subject or feature a particular building or personality. they can sway public opinion – exempt from the control of well-established “experts”. in the new media architectural material can be more spontaneous and less pretentious – more energetic or more enigmatic, covering an enormous spectrum and communicating at a level that leaves those stale, needless reports as a relic of history.
ASAE is an annual symposium at the school of architecture, lund university, sweden, it celebrates the beginning of the academic year. this year’s asae will be a two-day event with lectures, seminars, critiques, exhibitions and more. ASAE is an open event and anyone who wishes to attend is welcome.
