suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
jimenez LAI: i explore hypothetical scenarios of experimental architecture. graphic novels and physical installations are my two primary weapons of choice, as i see representation being more than half the battle.
sP: what or who influenced this project?
jL: probably it all started with the manga culture of east asia. i especially liked doraemon, dragonball / dragonball z, and vagabond.
in terms of architecture, i had michael meredith as a professor who inspired alot of potentials out of me. i currently have robert somol as my director / mentor and he has been an extremely important source of influence.
sP: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
jL: all that is solid melts into air. science fiction of edgar allen poe. hunchback of the notre dame. down and out in london and paris. confession (tolstoy). space oddity. rocketman. sail to the moon. green grass of tunnel. this place is a prison. we’ll meet again (johnny cash). 12 angry men. the swingers. fight club.
