suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
paul PHUNG: the project is more of a visual dairy more than anything else its only been a couple of months since ive started this, most of the images are of my friends or places ive visited recently, hopefully after a couple of years i will make a book of these images and i want the give the viewer a sense of the person i am without knowing who i am.
sP: what or who influenced this project?
pP: my surroundings, the world around me, my friends….theres a definate style on how i take my photos and how i treat my photographic practice, stylistically most have gone through some post production which im trying to display the mood or atmosphere on how i felt at the time taking the photograph.
sP: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
pP: i would say honestly its been blogs and magazines that have influcened me the most.
ive been listening to the xx alot recently, although ive recently heard it being described as atmosphere and not music by the amount of times ive listened to the album, also house seasons 1-3.
sP: whose work is currently on your radar?
pP: always – william eggleston, nan goldin, larry clark, paul graham and philip-lorca dicorcia…recently i loved ryan mcginley’s series of kate moss and the picture titled dakota hair.
