suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
jaclyn LUCIA: i would say this project has been a long on-going collection of photos i have taken over the past 10 years, a visual diary per-say, of my world and thoughts. poking fun at the pitfalls of this stagnate gimmick generation that surrounds us. my photographic eye is attracted to certain and specific things, bright colors and underlying metaphors enrapture me. i like to look in-between the versus and analyze the gray areas. we must constantly learn, grow, and respond to the world that devours us. i never leave the house with out a camera… i have always been told that it’s like i live in my own little world. i feel my world is a reaction; a product, of my experiences and environments.
sP: what or who influenced this project?
jL: black sparks, everyone and everything in my life. i have images in there from weird and fun situations and some remind me of moments in my life i would probably rather forget (if not forgotten already) but i guess exposing that, even though sometimes it is uncomfortable for me, makes for good images.
sP: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
jL: i guess this would be the hardest question to answer my likes and dislikes have changed so radically in recent years…. however, right now im really into a few new bands i heard on a nylon playlist like; phoenix, crystal antlers, the soft pack and the horrors…. also white rabbits and cursive’s new album.
sP: whose work is currently on your radar?
jL: erwin olaf for sure. another photographer in europe, his 3d modeling in combination with photography is sick, especially in his fashion work.
