    MAXXI OPENS: 30 MAY 2010

MAXXI_National Museum of XXI century Arts is a
Foundation established by the Ministry of National Heritage
    and Culture.
It is the first national museum dedicated to contemporary
creativity thought as a great campus dedicated
to culture, a laboratory of experiment, study and research.
Thus, in the adventure of an institution so projected towards the future,
it was decided to carry out a grand public work with the innovative
and spectacular architectural forms of the architect Zaha Hadid.

    suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

sorayos tang CHUENCHOMPHU, renee d. SMITH, leon m. CIFALA + nate m. GREEN: N_Urples was an exercise producing a surface, which created visual affects by parallax and proximity. The unit is a hexagon constructed of three panels whose color treatment act to undermine readings of the geometric tessellation. An a-b connection scheme allows for up to 12 connection types which produce a variety of swelling, swaleing and clumping affects in a variety of connections. Any overall reading of the aesthetic as either biological or mechanical is subverted by the treatment of the surface as a deformed field of bulbs which when read alone could be associated with anything from a fly’s eye to a hubcap.

    suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

han TANG: LABYRINTH is to try to map the non-linear evolution of dynamic spatial system in ecologically-based models. It reviews the self-organizing process by investigating in particular the relevance of chaos theory. The structure formation starts with a chaotic situation, and after long term evolution, a stable structure system emerges. It reflects the spaticial relationship between solid and void through time. Here, we argue that inherent randomness is a sufficient condition for the generation of ordered patterns under evolutionary dynamics.

    suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

MAPT: If you are looking for the best seats at Horsens Stadium, you will find them in the VIP CASA Sky Box. From here there is a perfect view, whether you are watching soccer or concerts.
The Sky Box is a unique project, where all furniture has been designed and fabricated specifically for this space. The furniture are functional and at the same time sculptural elements. Their glossy white surface merges wall, floor and furniture into one. Selected places, where the body comes in contact with the function, natural wood is integrated in the white surfaces. The play between the clean, glossy white and the warm wood combined with perfect fitting is the essence of this project.
