suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
luca FARINELLI: The setting is a post apocalyptic Los Angeles, where the zombie wars have made the environment desolate and dangerous. A family of 5 is trying to survive, living in an insect like structure. Solitary in this tabula rasa, its origins are unknown, its nature unclear, yet it is pleasing to the eye.
Each family member occupies his or her individual capsule, which lifted from the unfriendly earth and removed from the other capsules, stands isolated. Suspicion and fear have destroyed the communal space of the home, whose carcass lies in demise. Fear of the other has created total alienation.
At night, the capsules come to life, engaging in a ritual which appears to be one of feeding. The building feeds on itself, on its remains. In times of crisis, architecture seems to turn to itself and feast on a self referential meal.
