suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
patrick BEDARF/dimitrie STEFANESCU: C:Strip is best described by an attempt to translate the environmental qualities of the proposed site into a meaningful architectural geometry that can accommodate and maximize the performance of an adaptive and fluctuating programme which focuses on producing and distributing information through the use of informal societal behavior.
From the outside, the building reads as a sinuous and fluid topology, with more subdued moments of articulation providing aperture for the interior spaces. The muted exterior articulation and surfaces transform the spectator into participant, beckoning the user to enter and engage the various surfaces. After moving into the library, the articulation begins to vary in scale, evolving into bookshelves, seating, tables, and lighting. The moments of increased articulation correspond to the areas of the library where the user becomes fully immersed into the project. Now an active participant of the building, the user may linger, question, and explore.
