suckerPUNCH: describe your project.
neil BLEVINS: I am a scifi/fantasty artist that enjoys creating creatures, robots and alien landscapes. My work has shown up on Album covers, Books, Magazines, Posters, Tshirts and as Fine Art Prints in gallery exhibitions. My technique mostly involve making 3d geometry in 3dstudio max and then painting ontop of them in photoshop to arrive at the final image.
sP: what or who influenced this project?
nB: These are all images that appear in my head, then I try my best to replicate them in a more tangeable form. I am influenced by Nature, Fine Arts, Music, Films and everything else under the sun.
sP: what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
nB: Some of my favorite music includes Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Fear Factory and Steve Vai. Influencial films have been Transformers The Movie (the original cartoon from 1985), The Matrix, Robocop, Starship Troopers, Predator, Aliens and gotta say I loved District 9 last year.
sP: whose work is currently on your radar?
nB: Some of my favorite artists are H.R. Giger, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Ashley Wood, Craig Mullins, Dave McKean, Heidi Taillefer, Dylan Cole, JMW Turner, John Harris, Nicolas Bouvier, Sebastien Larroude and Nicolas Ferrand. In the past few months, I’ve been really impressed with work by Aaron Beck, Georgi Simeonov, Paul Lasaine, Sam Brown and Mateja Petkovic.
