    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
    cho chung MAN, wang YANG, & ben DAI: Paper as parameter. Paper is a “flexible material”—the ease to fold, cut, twist, and mass fabricate give paper an “immateriality” and “digital” property next to the flexibility in computational forms.

    Our studio approach is a heuristic, open source research based unit which allocates an online sharing platform to accommodate knowledge sharing and cross platform investigation 24/7 throughout the duration of the workshop. Through the lens of software and physical paper folding, students are encouraged to “try it for themselves,” and daily internal crits are conducted as catalysis for information sharing.

    Parameter and design brief: The 1:1 scale model, named the face, is an architecture surface that constructed at the end of the five day workshop. The Function of the surface is flexible—for example, it could be a table, chair, wall, ceiling, etc. The building of a 1:1 scale model pushed the limit of integration of digital tools and physical models, as several uncalculated forces like gravity, tension, wind, etc., added stress to the connection detail of the basic paper unit.
