suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
Jonathan H. SCHNURE: A revisit to the Box in a Box / Sectional object problem: Exhibition and Schaulager Gallery/Broad Museum Redux LA.
Using artist works of Bart Hess as the operational jumping off point, material stretching, liners, aggregated objects, and ultimately figures in a sack were developed as an operative technique.
A sub plot investigation of the tattoo/scarification as a tectonic expression of form, programmatic indices, aperture, and structure was additionally developed as a secondary means of advancing the problem. The recursive nature of the scar patterning in conjunction with cuspidal forms allowed for deviation and normalization of building form with deliberate and controlled intent of spatial use.

JHS: Reading J. Trinkaus Studies (everyone needs to read these); Jeff Kipnis; Stan Allen; Kahn; and Mies. Listeing to Paul’s Boutique (anything O.G.), Reuben Wilson, Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra. Watching The Wire.
