suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
David DÜNßER, Gilles MULLER, Evangelos PALASKAS, Julia SCHÜTZ, & Charly SCHWARZ: We have focused on designing a gridded surface, purposely tightening or widening the grid to control waterflow.
The surface consists of several layers, varying in transparency, that are connected and braced by icicles—the goal being to generate a surface which connects to the ground when it is frozen. Icicles then build columns that can be explored by walking underneath the ice covered coat, surface growing into structure.
At the end of the studio, we built a 1:1 model of our design.
sP: What or who influenced this project?
DD, GM, EP, JS, & CS: No conscious influences. . . .
sP: What were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
DD, GM, EP, JS, & CS: Nothing in particular; a lot of music during the night shifts, laser-cutting and putting all the little pieces together. The boys had a lot of fun skating next to our “under-construction” model, watching the sun go down and rise again.
sP: Whose work is currently on your radar?
DD, GM, EP, JS, & CS: N/A.
