  • Kitbashing

Dionysus CHO, Anne MA, & Daniel NGUYEN, "Kitbashing."
    new haven CONNECTICUT

    Yale School of Architecture
    Disheveled Geometries Seminar, Spring 2014
    critic: Mark Foster GAGE.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

Dionysus CHO, Anne MA, & Daniel NGUYEN: Finding precedent in the process of kitbashing—originating in model trains—we took existing 3-D models with their own level of detail and then composed a new significant form from these models.

The aim was to create a high-resolution, 3-D printed physical space out of the conglomeration of disparate digital entities. Materials and texture were used regardless of original object intentions.

The sci-fi world of kitbashing and unlimited ornamentation/articulation enters the real world. . . .

sP: What or who influenced this project?
    DC, AM, & DN: Thingiverse.

sP: What were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
