    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

What before was a compressed and sticky composite barrier is inflated creating a puffy third space of intermediate climates.

This third space – cutaneous tectonics of inhabitable air cavities – houses migrating functions and questions the traditional understanding of inside and outside as a binary division between two environmental characteristics: a homogeneous inside and a heterogeneous outside. Henceforth the envelope’s domain is not limited to the threshold layer but extends far beyond the datum line, deep into the interior. Architecture, therefore, should be rather a porous mediator between inside and outside than a sealed capsule.

    MOULTING SKINS, RUPTURES AND IN-BETWEENS
As surfaces interact with each other due to proximity, penetration or unification the interstices become voluminous thresholds. By folding and convoluting this in-between the surface area is maximized which affects the surface’s permeability and the interface’s performativity. Heterogeneous environments are created by homogeneous surfaces where the general changes to the particular and the articulate becomes unarticulated continuously. Programmatic functions are embedded between peeling layers and moulting fabrics establish a blurred boundary as an envelope. These porous spaces are characterized by a high degree of accessibility, creating truly open spaces. The layers geometric ecdysis (syn. moult) demands a sophisticated environmental strategy when applied to an architectural design.
