The MINI LIVING team, in collaboration with New York architecture firm Bureau V, has designed a micro-house – Urban Cabin – as a research space that presents architectural solutions for relevant urban needs and local identities. The project’s purpose is to create a house within a limited footprint that is inspired by local surroundings; a cabin that blends into the landscape and illustrates New York as a vibrant city that incorporates cultural influences from around the world.

The project’s purpose is to create a house with a small footprint that is inspired by its local surroundings; a cabin that blends into the landscape and illustrates New York as a vibrant city that incorporates cultural influences from around the world. Urban Cabin’s facade uses iridescent acrylic glass to achieve this contrast. The colors of the facade change with every movement; it’s all about the angle of view.

The interior of the cabin is a place of inspiration. A place to have a break in the middle of it all. The area with the hammock can open up to the public and act as a little garden. In its closed condition it provides privacy surrounded by plants and the sun coming through the colourful windows.

There will be a series of events and activities in and around the cabin through October. Check the calendar for dates.
