sP:  what or who influenced this project?

jtbR: this is certainly a minimal surface project. beyond that, I was influenced by ero guro, photographs of masochists, and the movement of octopods.

sP:  what were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?

jtbR:  i remember listening to quite a bit of grindcore. in terms of film, i was in another one of my deep hellraiser phases. lynch's inland empire was inspiring in terms of his ability to exhaustively manipulate my mood as i watch. he is a master. and, i was reading quite a bit over the term of the project. the versioning issue of ad is important.

sP:  whose work is currently on your radar?

jtbR:  danny boyle's sunshine, furious theatre company's canned peaches in syrup, takashi murakami, chiho aoshima, and celebrity make-up artists
