The last few years have seen a shift in schools on the east and north coasts of the US. many new chairs and deans have been brought into the programs. Kentucky under michael SPEAKS, michigan with monica PONCE DE LEON and john MCMORROUGH, UIC under robert SOMOL to the north and out east RPI under evan DOUGLIS, pratt with dagmar RICHTER, john MAEDA at RISD, and PENN and cornell about to switch chairs. Sea change or more of the same? seems energy and focus is shifting at these programs. hopefully continuing good momentum which was developed in last five years at each program. anyone on the front lines? where will the excitement be for the next round of graduate school applicants?
