Adam VUKMANOV: Slavija square, Belgrade (Serbia)—competition entry.

According to the analysis done by local advert companies, there are around 1.2 million people circulating every day through Slavija Square and its roundabout. Public transport which includes buses, trolleybuses and trams is overlapped with dens traffic and the current situation, although positively dynamic, is creating a cataclysmic and rough space where pedestrians do not feel safe.

    lund SWEDEN

CIPHER SISTEMS are coded and encrypted structures we see in nature as a phenomenon of scale. Their fractal appearance in certain morphologies, diversifying in size, is an intriguing aspect for morphogenetic design. The reappearing relationship of macro and micro patterns found in different states of physicality in a variety of environments is leading to an understanding about emergence and the connectivity between systems. Thus, the MUTATING ARCHITECTURE studio will analyse, evaluate, & decrypt reoccurring natural patterns and explore possibilities of their application on visionary scenarios in futuristic city context. . . .

    suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

adam VUKMANOV + julia KOERNER: Morphology of Biodivers[c]ity is a research project that studies form and structure in natural and biological environment of California. It was generated through 6 months residency program and scholarship at MAK Center, Los Angeles. The exhibition, held in the new gallery at Mackey apartments (design and built by Rudolph Schindler in 1939), was design as a multimedia set of results showing the morphologies of diverse natural and organic phenomenons as well as the man-made environment.

The two weeks international workshop was an introduction to this year’s ASAE2010 symposium and the topic of “Architecture and Beauty”. Sixty students were analyzing visual effects and identifying elements that are defining ”Beauty” in the eye of an observer. Further on, the focus was on imaginary atmospheric effect of capturing outer space and translating it into an architectural spatial experience in form of Ground Based Observatory.

julia KOERNER +adam VUKMANOV + miljan RADOJEVIC: the project explores figure to figure relationships and their deformations caused by dynamic wind forces. it rigorously addresses the context of the site, cres/croatia, by nesting the volumes in linear production system and orientation dependent on existing winds which are the parameter of latent mutability and transformation of the shapes. volumetric continuity achieved by multi materiality, surface creasing, seams and structure porosity is defining the complexity of sustainable architectural processes incorporated within the building.

    suckerPUNCH: describe your project.

adam VUKMANOV: volatile table emerged from territories where organic design works as parametric system that modulates geometry capable of becoming a table. a single surface deforms and blends from one necessary function to another and blurs the border between horizontality and verticality. in this fashion, designed geometry is achieving continuous visual volume, and synergy of form and function.

adam VUKMANOV: deformation and differentiation of facade are generated with air intakes and their volume considering the height pressure difference. also, the double skin is shifting and reacting to the direct sun exposure depending on the angle, as well as behaviour and angularity of the wind/air stream on the exterior surface which is precisely calculated with computer-fluid-dynamic software.
