    EADO (Ellie ABRONS) & SIFT (Adam FURE): The visual encounter is a defining experience for both fashion and architecture. Whether it is the longing gaze upon an object of desire or the perfect view, seeing is an essential act for both fields and their audiences. When the two come together, however, conventional divisions too often prevail as architecture assumes its position as the background for fashion (consider storefront windows or runway shows).

    The LADG:This was our competition entry for the BOFFO Building Fashion project. We wanted to insert two giant balloon animals into the given volume. The idea was to make space using character(s). That sounds like a kind of flippant intention—and it was—but we took the balloon animals very seriously, studying posture, the voluptuousness of fat membranes, and the integration of retail display.

    mark GAGE/ marc BAILLY: During July, August and September of this year, Gage / Clemenceau Architects is collaborating on the design and production of a temporary installation with Nicola Formichetti, Fashion Director for Lady Gaga, Creative Director for Mugler as well as fashion stylist to Uniqlo, MAC and V Magazine. This collaboration is intended to produce an installation that experimentally fuses ideas from both fashion and architecture into a new type of physical environment, accessible to the general public, for a two week period coinciding with Fashion Week in New York City, in September 2011.
