  • Bridge & Platige Image, Interactive Installation.
    warsaw POLAND

Bridge and Platige Image created a physical space manifesto for new offices of Platige Image. Platige Image’s work in animation and post-production blurs boundaries between creativity and technology. The installation is a spatial canvas ready to display creative content from artists working at Platige and to engage visitors too. It was designed to be a living organism in the lobby space and take an active part in company’s everyday life.

  • Surface Translations / Pleated Perforated Bridge
    vienna AUSTRIA

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

claudio GRANATO, dino KIRATZIDIS, & cecilia SANNELLA: The Atlas of Sensations was a 4 week summer school at The University of Applied Arts in Vienna. The brief was to design a pedestrian bridge near the Urania building in Vienna. Our project looked at techniques of producing highly articulated, “pleated” surfaces. This was achieved by moving between the software platforms, which was one of the objectives of the course: we modeled in Maya, deformed the generic mesh (a tube, with apertures) with Processing; further edited the deformed geometry in Maya to adapt to the site; and produced gradients and perforations in Grasshopper to produce atmospheric effects inside the tube.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

AmniosyA (marino MORETTI, marco CARRATELLI, natalia GIACOMINO, lucia LUNGHI, elvira PERFETTO, lorenzo PIANIGIANI, & leonardo PILATI): ArχipelagA it’s an unconventional bridge, we started thinking about the aggregation and the interaction of different element. In greek ἀρχή it’s the starting point of everithing, the primary idea. So starting from a single plane we started to study the different reaction and interaction between itself and the agents. An exotic bridge that formally looks like something natural, but in the material it’s totally artificial.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

daniel CAVEN: The connectionweb pedestrian bridge, inspired by the theridiidae spider’s web, takes an organic role in the sociofugal urban environment. Using digital advances in parametric modeling, the connectionweb can adapt itself to most situations in which it is placed. Connectionweb takes on the initiative to stand up against environmental factors allowing wind and light to pass through its web-like outer shell. Using a sustainable solution to natural shading in the summer months, the connectionweb incorporates ivy growth on the outer web to block the suns rays.

    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

franck CONSTANS, etienne MARES, cheng GONG: As a shining pearl in Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong connects four places between two sides in China. Its characteristics of identity, interchanging and flexibility are more and more emphasized not only in the future metropolitan context, but also in the role in the historical and political sense that it plays.

We propose to rethink HKBCF as the architecture of air, a geyser of fire, flaming on the moving surfaces of the sea by holistic way.
