The Non-Linear Solution Unit (NSU) at GSAPP Columbia University and Interni Magazine feature the project Instant Installation, winner for the University of Memphis Art Museum in the occasion of the Art Lab Installation. Developed by a group of international students and guided by Caterina Tiazzoldi, Instant Installation explores architecture’s capacity to adapt and be reconfigured for different uses and locations with a unique spatial experience and a highly innovative yet cost efficient assembly type. It is a product reinventing the material, social, and educational possibilities of temporary exhibit spaces, creating visitor involvement into the space.
The Non-Linear Solution Unit will feature the project “Instant Installation – Product Architecture” during the 2013 NY design week, May 18th-21st at Studio X New York.
Instant Installation is product is a pop-up Architecture developed by 24 international students guided by NSUs director Caterina Tiazzoldi.

The Whirler is an exhilarating energy system that collects wind and transforms it for perceptive energy production. The Whirler is a three dimensional grid of Darrieus Turbines, having the ability to stimulate and challenge the visitors of the park. A wind energy system based on a vertical axis conceived to respond to the variability of Fresh Kills’ wind direction and intensity.
Whirlers is part of the show “Fresh Kills Park” curated by the Land Art Generator Initiative, opening in New York on October 25th at the Soho Digital Art Gallery in New York.

caterina TIAZZOLDI: Illy Shop is a shop realized in Milano in Galleria San Carlo.
The concept is conceived for a reconfigurable store, characterized by different modulations of a single element, a “cube” which is 45×45cm-squared base.
Using a grasshopper application, it becomes possible to manipulate the cube physical properties by editing depth, thickness, opacity, length and explosions. The combinatory logic—permits to perform over 3000 configurations of the same object.
