george SOVICH: Introverted yet monumental, the Endeavour Museum serves as an instrument for technology and education in the expansive Los Angeles fabric. Anchoring and reinforcing the role of knowledge in contemporary society, the complex rises above its surroundings, becoming an urban landmark for its increasingly disperse population. Given its significance to the adjacent community and its ability to generate local and regional identity, the function of the complex is inherently similar to cathedral of traditional society. Iconic, powerful, and symbolic of a higher purpose, the museum will inspire generations of observers that fall beneath its impressive shadow.
