    Andrea SACHSE: In 2009 the six-story historical archive of Cologne collapsed and almost all records were either destroyed or lost their context. This destruction demands new solutions for secure storage that gives rise to new interpretations of information. Different frame(rate)s are used as the operational strategy of the building‘s framework. It describes the amount of sequential frames that generate a new perception of information space.

    guillaume MACÉ: K3.x takes place in Lorient, France. It proposes a rehabilitation scheme of Keroman 3, a submarine base from second World War, and answers the desire to reconnect the city of Lorient with the bay. Its definition being shifted from being an entity located on the outskirts of the city’s industrial zone, to becoming the dynamic center of a greater entity, the bay.

    jeroen ROOSEN, ewa LENART, & klemens SITZMANN: A sneak preview of an emerging Arctic knowledge based Hydro-Economy.

    The project develops an urban planning strategy for the Arctic, establishing a relationship with site specific conditions such as topography, a continuously changing permafrost soil, strong snowdrifts and a combination of extreme frost during winter and melt during summer. A Hydro-economy based on the availability of constant Arctic windspeeds (that are twice as fast as in other parts of the world) and the accessibility of large fresh water supplies can make an urban scenario for this quickly changing area a viable premise for the future.

  • The Essence Show 2012

    Essence Angewandte Institute of Architecture year end exhibition at the Künstlerhaus, Vienna.

    The exhibition design by Hani Rashid was conceived as a field matrix that displays and proliferates, information, models and materials from the Institutes architecture departments. The resulting terrain is a landscape of varying visions for the future of architecture. Over 60 works of students from the three design studios Zaha Hadid, Greg Lynn, and Hani Rashid were “spawned” across the field of 600 podiums.

  • Deep Futures: Train link at C_9-1 In Silk City

    johan TALI: Deep Futures.

    The collective and individual work by the students will predominately focus around the concept of the city, and in particular the notion of city as a laboratory for the deep futures of human interaction, technological and ecological intelligence, spatial and formal play and experiment and discovery. The search is for new forms, types and assemblies of architecture more or less centered theory and research into the future of architecture with the space of cities. Students in this will initiate Deep Futures by investigating both contemporary and future potentials for new yet to be designed cities.
