    suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.

dimitrie STEFANESCU & manuel TORRES: This project embodies a virtual study of the process of folding with its conjectural actions (re-folding, unfolding). The shift from a deterministic view of the world to one dominated by chaos and complexity has had (and still has) huge implications in both philosophy and science – two main tools of architecture. Space is filled up by potentials. Space folds, bends and warps around itself and into itself into a topological revelry. We now no longer differentiate space with fixed, impossible boundaries: the demarcation mechanism is now based on differences of intensities, on gradient fields merging one into each other. There are no different entities per se, just different manifestations of one modulation coexisting and relating to each other in a field of intensities.

sP: What or who influenced this project?
dS: The lack of responsibility which allowed us to shape theory and force it upon collated users.
mT: The need to submit to the system and not to question authority.

sP: What were you reading/listening to/watching while developing this project?
dS: Antoine Picon, Manuel DeLanda, Bruno Latour.
mT: Lars Von Trier, Cedric Price, Bruno Latour, Richard Sennett, East 17, Henry Lefebvre.

sP: Whose work is currently on your radar?
dS & mT: Any of those new, cool, sociable architects who we can reach through media distribution – we’re probably missing a lot.
