suckerPUNCH: Describe your project.
Andreea MANDRESCU (Studio Andreea Mandrescu Ltd.): Inlaid Fantasies is based on the research of marquetry and inlay crafts, the material and the aesthetic traditionally used. The aim was to create a new tactile and visual experience that will bring a new perspective on the traditional crafts by implementing them into textile design. The outcome was/is a series of fluid, soft surfaces inlaid and overlaid on fabrics that can be used in fashion, accessories as well as interiors. The predominant combination of materials is fabrics, different kinds of rubber, faux fur, veneers and leather.
As accessories, the design surfaces due to their flexibility and ease in manipulation, can be attached and wrapped around the body. Applied on fabric, the designs can be made to fit different garment patterns for fashion design. Similar patterns and combination of materials can be used for interior design and soft furnishings. The design patterns can be done in any color, shape and size.
